Things back home in India is quite astounding. We have the human resources and opportunities to try new ideas over its vast landscape. And in the past 10 years, youngsters have opened up new ventures and kept the windows open for us to explore. And how can we loop in like minded young minds into entrepreneurship and change the world?
I would say foremost give them wings and freedom to experiment new grounds. In India, students are dependent on parents until they turn 20yrs unlike the western counterparts. This not only put an end to their passions but also keep their thoughts within the shell. Many great minds were able to succeed during their mid 20's and this is a formative age where the change begins to sweep in. Either you move with the wind or stand among the crowd in pursue of your dreams. IF we can take this message to all parents and schools in encouraging them to choose their destiny at this age, change is within us.
Along with this, we need to address the benefits of entrepreneurship not through seminars or videos, but with starting Youth clubs within around 1,00,000 Colleges in India. Even if 10 students are interested in doing a service via social ventures, we will have close 1 Million young minds inspiring the other 400 million students to do the same. As a 23yr old lad, i was inspired by my seniors who set up a company in our locality. We can bank on the teenage formula : Employer is respectable than being an employee.
Although the percentage of graduates turning into entrepreneurs is less, the recent economic uncertainty has encouraged many into this sector. Social Entrepreneurship is one vertical much of work yet to be done by the Indian Youth.
