Gallons of Mexico : Aftermath of BP Oil Spill

I should say, BP officials would have been little bit relieved after successfully closing the vents with containment domes to 3 leaks in the Deep Horizon Rig Well. The under sea cameras confirmed the same, which halted the incessant flow of crude oil into Gulf of Mexico since April 20. An average of 5000 barrels of oil was pumped into the ocean per day not only endangering the lives of the water species but also closed many businesses across the coast line. . Fishing was closed in around 10000 Sq miles along the western shoreline and with impending disaster Senator Bobby Jindal declared state of emergency in Louisiana.

Lets reason what happened on that black day, which led to one of the worst Oill Spill disaster since 1989 Exxon spill. What went wrong in the Operations and to what extent the investigating authorities were able to name the culprits behind this disaster..Oil Giant BP hired Transocean, an US-based Company to handle operations and maintenance of the Deep Horizon Oil Rig. Trans is responsible for the drilling and extraction of the oil complying to the US safety procedures and operate under the purview of BP. The Audit conducted by BP in March 2010 revealed , Trans needs to improve in 65 areas and according to BP most of its recommendations were taken into account. In light of these changes incorporated, none of them ever suspected the Oil well structure weak to handle the pressure and subsequently fire up and sink into the ocean as happened on April 20, at around 3 am local time.

No one actually know what could have caused the real damage, but experts claim its the poor structure of the Oil Well which caused it to burst and readily available crude caught fire serving death notice to 11 employee out of 126 on board. Unfortunately , the emergency backup generators didn't work which could have detached the Offshore drilling ship from the under see Oil Well . Also this would have shut down the well temporarily and limit the damage to large extent. Only after reviewing the satellite pictures after the Ship drowned with flames on it, Tony Hayward (BP CEO)  realized what grave consequences he had to face for  this jettison of Oil from his Rig. Primary observations revealed that leak of 1000 barrels of oil per day which were aggravated to around 5000 barrels per day. And BP and US coast guard did everything they can to curtail this leak at close to 1000 ft below sea level. Laying Oil Booms along the coast line, usage of undersea robots to place containment dome, attempts to flow the oil to Ship vessels on water, construction of relief well
,and many more tests were done to bring to an end this leak in middle of Gulf of Mexico for last 3 months.

Are we responsible for its death!
This Damage control mission was performed amidst law suits in US,protests from the Greenpeace Organizations, and lastly in view of huge compensations bills it might pay for the damage. Barack Obama was clear in his words to halt offshore drilling across the gulf and BP would be held responsible. Was this a mere signal to the Coalition British Government the unhappiness in their agenda in Afg-Iraq Policy? Maybe but the truth is BP brought much damage than a terror plot to USA. Some manual errors and irresponsible acts of Trans cost BP billions of dollars to settle the claims.Well there is certain underlying fact which either of them disapprove, the emergency system was never tested and disaster recovery was not seriously taken. The recent statement from an employee of  Trans further adds credibility to this and also the absence of Alarm system on that day. Whatsoever went wrong, the authorities would make sure, the same course would never be followed. Forgive me but  if such an incident occurs on our waters, it would find place in our media pages for 4 days, and we move on with it. Y ? our waters are already polluted and this crude would further do no harm to hydro species as they were already extinct to our recent data..!!!!

Lastly the gallons of oil now floating on the waters of GOM send us a message to preserve this precious commodity the best we can in near future....
